Reframe those limiting beliefs

Beliefs stick. You may not know you’re even carrying them around with you - you may think ‘This is just how I am’.

Many of your beliefs are formed when you’re very young (often by the age of 7 or 8) by observing the actions and behaviours of those around you. These beliefs are stored in your subconscious and act as your ‘guide book’ as to how you then operate in the world. You may not have given them much thought.

For 95% of your day, you are operating from your subconscious (Bruce Lipton - author of The Biology of Belief). Subconscious = autopilot. Using these stored beliefs to take action, have conversations, make choices and decisions, communicate, talk to yourself…..

The vast majority of these subconscious beliefs are negative, self-sabotaging, disempowering, and play on repeat.

How would it feel to know you can operate from a place of consciousness, and you can choose to reframe those beliefs?

Lipton says “If (and when) you’re running from the conscious mind, then you’re creating your life from wishes and desires and aspirations.”

Reframe those limiting beliefs - Gemma Brown Coaching

So how do we learn about these subconscious beliefs that may not serve us?

  • Consciously consider what beliefs you may be carrying around - it might be negative, hold you back or be self-sabotaging in nature.

  • Enquire ‘where did this belief come from?’ - do you notice its origins?

  • Inspect the belief by asking ‘Is it true?’, ‘Is it helpful?’, ‘Do I have this belief for others?’

  • Reflect on ‘What would be more accurate?’, ‘What would be more true?’, ‘What belief could help me move forward?’ ‘What beliefs do I extend to others, that I could also extend to myself?’.

  • Write down and capture a new belief and bring it into your consciousness.

Free yourself from your limiting beliefs.
